Bill Reid Gallery: To Speak with a Golden Voice

The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Artre-opens and celebrates the centennial birthday of Bill Reid (1920–1998) withan extraordinary exhibition about his life and legacy, To Speak With a GoldenVoice from July 16, 2020 to April 11, 2021. Guest curated by Gwaai Edenshaw —considered to be Reid’s last apprentice — the group exhibition includes rarelyseen artworks from private collections and from the gallery’s core collection,works by contemporaries, including Robert Davidson and Beau Dick, and two newcommissions by artist Cori Savard (Haida) and singer-songwriter Kinnie Starr(Mohawk/Dutch/German/Irish). Through a deep exploration of his voice, process,lineage, and heritage, the special anniversary exhibition traces the iconicHaida artist’s lasting influence on Indigenous art and culture.
